OPE Drop Off and Pick Up Information

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT STUDENT DROP OFF IN THE MORNINGS.....

When can I drop off my student?

  • Supervision and breakfast begin at 8:00 a.m.

Where do I drop-off my students?  (From 3rd St. Entrance)

  • 4th Grade: in front of the office (please pull to the end of the curb in front of the building)
  • 5th & 6th grade: in front of the gym (please pull all the way up to the stop sign/crosswalk near the gym)

What if my student is eating breakfast at school?

    • Breakfast begins in the cafeteria at 8:00 a.m.
    • Parent Drop-off: in front of the office (walk through the front doors to the cafeteria (all grade levels)
    • Bus: behind the gym (all grade levels) 
  • Walkers: your grade level entrance 
  • Students eating breakfast at school do not have to line up and wait to enter the building.

If my student rides the bus, how do I know my route and when they will be pick-up from their stop?

Where does the bus drop off my student before school? (Our bus drivers will remind the student when to get off the bus)?

  • 6th- behind the gym
  • 5th- behind the office
  • 4th- front of the building

What if I forget where to go?

  • Don’t worry! We will have signs! 

Where do my students wait to enter the building?

  • 4th Grade- students line up, by class, in front of the building
  • 5th Grade- students line up, by class, behind the office
  • 6th Grade- Students line up, by class, behind the gym

What if we are running late?

  • All students who arrive at school after 8:10 a.m. must enter through the front doors.

At what time are students dismissed?

  • Students are dismissed at 2:45. It usually takes a few minutes for students to get to their exit points.

If my student rides the bus, how do I know my route and when they will be home?

Where do I pick-up my student? (from 3rd St. Entrance)

  • Please line-up for pick-up, in your car, in front of the gym.
  • A teacher will ask you for your student’s name. They will call (walkie-talkie) the name to the gym, and your student will be dismissed.
  • This process takes about 15 minutes. Please allow ample time for pick-up.
  • It helps with the flow of traffic we parents park in areas away from our gym.

What about my student who walks home?

  • Our walkers exit the building through the front doors. We have a crossing guard at the crosswalk at our 3rd Street entrance. 

What do I do if my student’s afternoon plans change?

  • If you have to change your student’s after school transportation plans, please let the office know by 2:00 p.m. The office will email the teacher.
  • If your student is aware of the change, it is not required the school is notified, unless your student is riding a different bus.
  • If the bus your student needs to ride home changes, they must get a bus pass before dismissal. Please write a note/email/call ahead to let the office know. Have the student communicate to their teacher, before lunch, that they need to visit the office for a bus pass.

What if I am running late to pick up my student?

  • Any students not picked up by 3:00, will be escorted to the office. You may meet them there.
  • Please call and let us know if you are on your way.
