Coach Cole

Hello -

I am Coach Cole, the Physical Education teacher at Grant Watts. This is my 28th year in education. I have been a teacher for 14th years and a school Administrator for 14 years. I hold a Bachelors of Science degree from Ithaca College and a Masters degree in Educational Administration - Principal from the University of Phoenix. I also have additional credits in Adaptive Physical Education. I am an only child. I grew up on a 1,200 acre farm in Lima, New York. I am an animal lover, especially dogs. I own a small dog named "Dymond in the Ruff". I typically get my dogs at the Human Society. I played basketball in college. I lettered in basketball, volleyball and softball in high school. I love all kinds of sports. I am a huge Buffalo Bills, Boston Celtics and New York Yankees fan. I have lived in New York, Arizona and Oregon. I love to travel. I have been to every state in the US. I have also traveled to South Korea, China, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Canada, Mexico, Iceland, St. Thomas and Puerto Rico. I have a very special hobby - Drag Racing. I race at Portland International Raceway (PIR) and at Woodburn Drag strip. In 2016-2017, I raced for PIR in the ET Division 6 Sportsman Finals. I received the first points for our team by having the best reaction times in the three practice rounds. I had a .001, .002, and .001. My teammates voted me the "Rookie of the Year" award as well. In 2018-2019, I am the Woodburn Powder puff Champion and I will be racing again for PIR in the ET Division 6 Sportsman Finals. I continue to coach AAU high school girls basketball through Roots Academy out of Longview, WA. I love this program. I have had athletes from Astoria HS, Rainer HS, Mark Morris HS and Klama HS and a few others. It is a true pleasure working with such great athletes who are so committed to improving the game. This program teaches athletes to work hard and great things can happen. It follows all of its athletes journey all the way through college. I enjoy working with the young future leaders of the Scappoose community to keep them healthy, active and happy. Go Grant Watts gray wolves!!
