Spring has sprung in the libraries this week - this is such a fun time during the year as it is time to use our Book Fair and other fundraising dollars to put in our final book orders of the year. It is fun to revisit all the student requests, research all the "best" book lists and start planning for the Oregon Battle of the Books! A lot of work goes into choosing the right books for the right audiences in our schools. We want to make sure our libraries are developmentally appropriate, engaging, accessible and support our unique Scappoose culture as well as the diverse perspectives of the ever-changing world around us. A meaningful and impactful part of my job that I take very seriously and look forward to every year!
We did it! We funded a 4th DonorsChoose project this year, this time supporting the library at Grant Watts. The staff and community really stepped up--it was the fastest we fully funded a project yet! And, the items have already started showing up - so exciting! THANK YOU everyone!

The Rolling Eagle Library Program at Warren Elementary celebrated Earth Day with Here We Are: Notes About Living on Planet Earth! I like this book because it helps us understand how complex life on Earth is and how we need to take care of both ourselves AND the planet to live our fullest life. And, we finished our Spring Book Fair--thanks to all the families who supported our efforts!
At Grant Watts this week we celebrated National Pretzel Day with a reading of Stick and Stone: Best Friends Forever and then we celebrated with each teacher getting to take a bag of pretzel sticks back to the classroom--there was a lot of fun with friends in the library this week!
At OPE it was Book Fair week - many thanks to all the shoppers and volunteers who made our fair possible!
