State Assessments

State Testing

Each year, schools are required to participate in administering the Oregon Statewide Assessments. These tests include Math and English Language Arts (Grades 3-8 and 11), Science (Grade 5, 8 and 11), ELPA (eligible students only) and Extended Assessments (eligible students only).

For Math and English Language Arts, parents may OPT-OUT by preference.

For EXEMPTIONS for Science, ELPA21 or Extended Assessments, they must be based on a disability or religious reason per the Oregon Department of Education and approved by the District Test Coordinator. These forms can be found below.

Opt-out forms and exemption forms must be filled out annually.

Testing Information

The state of Oregon requires assessments for different K-12 grade levels.

IMPORTANT: KG Assessments are still not required for the 2026-2027 school year. The new KG assessment was piloted during the 2024-2025 school year and the practices used for kindergarten appointments are aligned with the new assessment. 

District Test Windows:

  • English Language Arts (ELA), Math, and Science (grade 11) February-June

  • English Language Arts(ELA) and Math (grades 3-8): March-June 

  • Science (grades 5, 8) March-June 

  • ELPA Summative*(grades K-12) Jan-April

  • ELPA Screener*(grades K-12) August-July

  • Extended*: Jan-April

  • SEED Survey (grades 3-11)  February-June

*Requires specific student eligibility
