Mr. Joe Girres

Welcome to elementary Physical Education class. This is my seventeenth year of teaching and my tenth year in the Scappoose School District. My educational philosophy is to encourage students to be active and to foster an atmosphere towards lifelong wellness. I teach fourth through sixth grade Physical Education and one class of Adaptive Physical Education. I'm the high school girls varsity basketball coach and the girls varsity golf coach.

My Physical Education vision is to provide all students the opportunity to participate in a well-rounded program that reflects all content areas such as outdoor recreation/education (recess games, nature, running, biking, etc.), individual and team sports, cooperative and team building activities, mechanics of movement, endurance building and the positive effects of physical activity related to health/well being. It is my goal to provide a safe and enjoyable environment that lifts students spirits and enhances productive learning throughout the day/year.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family camping, hiking, biking, rafting, skiing and anything sports related.
