The school provides programs and services for students with disabilities. Sauvie Island School (SIS) does not discriminate on the basis of disability and students with a current individual education plan or IEP may apply for enrollment in the charter school. In the case of a student who is eligible for special education and related services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the resident district’s (IEP) team must meet and determine whether SIS is a proper placement for the student for the student to continue enrollment after admission. Once enrolled, the student’s IEP team, which will include at least the SIS Director and/or SIS Board Member, and the student’s assigned Teacher will decide if the IEP requires revision to meet the student’s education plan as set out in the IEP or if the charter school is the least restrictive environment for the student. A student or parent with questions should contact the SIS Director, the Scappoose Special Education Director or Oregon Department of Education to further answer any questions or concerns.
