     Kindercamp

Kindergarten is packed with lots of learning.  Your child will grow amazingly, in so many ways: socially, emotionally and academically.

Help jump-start your child’s kindergarten year by enrolling him/her to attend our 5-day Kinder Camp at Grant Watts Elementary School or Warren Elementary School. We will hold a camp that spans one-week for a full-day. The camp runs from 8am-3pm, August 17th-21st.

As part of this FREE program, your incoming kindergarten student will:

    • Be served a snack and lunch daily.
    • Enjoy after-camp enrichment opportunities with their families.
    • Learn important school routines.
    • Create relationships with kindergarten teachers and building staff.
    • Receive a jump start on learning reading, writing and math skills.
    • Have fun with other children at camp.
    • Ease into the transition of full-day kindergarten.
    • Parents are invited to stay for a Parent Coffee Chat from 8:00-8:30 a.m. on 8/17 and 8/21. This is an opportunity to learn about the district, the importance of the Kindergarten year, and meet other parents.

All incoming kindergarten students who will be attending in the Scappoose School District are welcome to apply. Our program is limited to 50 students total. Priority for placement will be given to:

    • Students who have not had formal preschool experience, Head Start or Early Childhood Special Education setting
    • Students from communities of color
    • Students who qualify for free/reduced school lunch
